This lap top is cost effective, provides great performance and has a smooth design. Love the new layouts and the feel of the key board. The touch pad is improved and very sensitive (guess I have to get used to it) but I love that it has a button right next to it to shut it off. I like also that the touch control for the volume.

"IQ 816 Dead end product not windows 7 friendly" 2009-12-16

I own the IQ 816 with blu-ray. The same as this system otherwise. Upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. I was required to reformat the drive. HP was unwilling to provide a replacement copy of Touchsmart or DVD Corel which is the blu-ray driver and more. I was told by HP tech that this computer was designed for Vista and not Windows 7. I could restore Vista or do without this software and Windows 7. You might be able to upgrade to Windows 7 Home edition. I wanted the ability to run XP software regardless of this computers potential loss of touchscreen abilities in XP mode. So if you need to reformat your hard drive to get to Windows 7 don't expect much assistance from HP or replacement software. This is a Vista PC and only a Vista PC regardless. It still is better than the IQ 775 which is the same as a PC jr, junk.

I bought this computer two weeks ago from [...], and I got it for a great price. Let me preface, I am a HUGE fan of the iMac and love all of Apple's products, but this computer folks is REALLY a good value. I got mine for $750 with Windows 7, and it is super easy to set up, very accesible, well designed, and runs really quick. The touch screen is not gimmicky because it works quite well! The slimline keyboard that it comes with is very nice, even the mouse is sturdy. The webcam function is SO much fun and my girlfriend and I enjoy talking to her family in Poland on it via Skype. It has some really fun things to do on it :) We love pictures and taking videos of our kids and such, and this computer makes everything so easy and fun, we went and got her the HP DV7 laptop to go with it! HP is back on top!!

I'll start by stating: You better off getting an Imac and dual booting windows as the Imac is a much more robust and powerful computer than this not counting the ability to have everything windows and mac wise together in one machine. This HP touch performs pretty decent but for the price it's slow, takes forever to boot up, has a very low end crap video card so graphics/gaming is very limited, the keyboard is decent, the mouse sucks completely and it seems like half the time your fighting it for control, the touch features are cool but lag pretty bad and the sound is sub-par. I do not trust HP products myself because they have always been epic failures for me, but this is what my gf wanted for her new computer seeing as how her XPS & HP Pavilion both completely failed on her in less than 3 years. The dell XPS had a wireless card fail and screen totally fail, while the HP Pavilion laptop had the wireless card, sound card, video card and hard drive all fail completely one right after the other. That being said I was very sceptical about buying another HP but this is the one she has wanted since it's release, so despite my trying to sway her to an IMAC 24" for the same price she got this. Again the Imac with it's way better hardware reliability and video card can run windows or any game/graphics eons better than this, so why get it? On the pro side: The wireless has been working well, the resolution is pretty good and the screen is clear, the keyboard light on the unit is a nice feature, it's a little short on USB slots compared to an Imac or similar units but you have them, and the all in one feature is great for a less cumbersome system. It is designed well but not worth the price of admission. I wrote hp/Compaq off as junk brands years ago, hopefully if this computer sucks she will do the same. This computer is useless....completely useless.

I was a faithful HP customer until now. We bought a dv6000 in July 2007 from Circuit City and thank God we bought the protection plan plus also. This laptop has been in for repair 3 times since last summer and all the same problems described in the Kioskea posts. Having the plan is great BUT the repair people and the warranty people don't communicate with each other, probably because the techs are American and the warranty people farm their telecommunications to scripted robots in India??? HP should have stepped up to the plate and RECALLED this batch of laptops rather than wait until people get stuck with unworkable products! If this next repair does not fix the problem, Apple here I come.

There is only one word to describe this laptop, excellent. There is only one small problem fingerprints everywhere, you have to be constantly cleaning it, but that has nothing to do with the performance of the laptop. Battery life is like three hours. Windows 7 is excellent, wasn't hard to get use to. Burning CDs and DVDs is a plus. Everything about this laptop I love.
